What Is It?
Calling all armchair athletes!!! Draw straws to see whom the lucky one of three will be who gets to sit back and relax while the other two races along the track at the Fairgrounds against a worthy opponent! The passenger will attempt to hold a plastic cup of water steady as their teammates push the recliner to victory amidst the cheers of the onlookers!
You can guess by now that this is a fun competition with the winning team receiving a donation to their favourite charity! Costumes are optional but add to the fun of the event!
OPERATIONS
- Chairs, helmets for the passenger, and the water cups will be supplied by the Beamsville Strawberry Festival Association.
- Teams, determined by the number of entrants, will run qualifying
heats in between the Bed Race heats
- 3. The winning team of the final race will be awarded an annual team
plaque and a cash prize to be donated to the charity of their choice.
RULES AND REGULATIONS
- All participants (male or female) must be 30 years of age or older.
- Three members per team, one passenger, 2 pushers.
- Any throwing of objects or obstruction of fellow competitors during the race will result in disqualification!
- The winner of each heat will be the first team to cross the finish line without spilling more than the minimum water level as marked.
- A final race will determine the winner of the Grand National Recliner Race.
